Bioeconomy Cooperation Discussions Between Värmland and Tampere Regions

The BSR Stars S3 project partners Tampere and Värmland had a meeting on the 27th of April 2018 at Tampere University of Technology.

Cooperation possibilities and joint interests within the field of bioeconomy were discussed at the meeting. The Värmland and Tampere regions are both focused on the forest-based bioeconomy and circular economy in their smart specialization strategies the regions see a unique opportunity to cooperate within the field.

Participating in the meeting were a group of researchers from Karlstad University’s research group Pro2Be (Processes and Products for a circular Bioeconomy), as well as representatives from the bioeconomy business cluster Paper Province as well as Anders Olsson, Manager of research and innovation at Region Värmland.

The primary outcome of the meeting was that it was decided that a large-scale transnational matchmaking event is going to be held later this year in Karlstad. This event will focus on bioeconomy and will take place 4th to 5th of December 2018. Furthermore, valuable new connections were made, and there was an agreement to further continue the cooperation between the regions.
